What is User Acceptance Testing?

This type of testing is normally abbreviated to UAT. This testing is usually carried out by representatives of the business, thus being known as a user. This testing is to ensure that the application supports the business process. A good example is a customer database. The business may have a requirement to be able to update customer addresses, however the application may restrict update to supervisor type users only. While technically the functionality may be working correctly, it does not meet the user requirements. User acceptance testing is best managed through test management tools such as HPs Quality Centre or through products such as T-Plan Professional.
